Hilary Rhoda strong grip

Pretty brunette model, Hilary Rhoda, played hockey and lacrosse at an all girls school and developed a strong grip. Here the sporty Hilary Rhoda throws out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals vs. Chicago White Sox baseball game on June 18, 2010 (Getty images). Hilary had never gripped a baseball bat or made a pitch before but said: "I practiced in the morning with my brother, Spencer, so I was comfortable."

She's obviously just posing for the photo (by Mark Peterson/Redux) since Hilary Rhoda is definitely right-handed! The curvy and fit Hilary Rhoda has a grip on the game, and told Golf magazine: "For me, golf’s a leisure sport—something to do to relax. But professional golfers are definitely athletes."

Supermodels net worth

Gisele Bündchen in a new campaign for Hope lingerie. The 29-year-old Brazilian beauty, who is married to US football player Tom Brady, remains the world's highest-paid supermodel, making $25 million for the second year running.

Forbes has announced its table of the world's top-earning models for 2010, and perhaps as a reflection of the economic uncertainty, the top ten supermodels occupy exactly the same spots as last year, with some increments and losses of capital net worth:

1. Gisele Bundchen - US$25 million
2. Heidi Klum - US$16 million
3. Kate Moss - US$9 million
4. Adriana Lima - US$7.5 million
5. Doutzen Kroes - US$6 million
6. Alessandra Ambrosio - US$5.5 million
7. Natalia Vodianova - US$5.5 million
8. Daria Werbowy - US$4.5 million
9. Miranda Kerr - US$4 million
10. Carolyn Murphy - US$3.5 million

Miss moneybags Gisele Bündchen left the other supermodels trailing behind her, even though she has retired from Victoria's Secret and has not yet transformed into a serious actress. Heidi Klum, mother of four and host of Project Runway, retained her previous year's income while Kate Moss had a net capital gain of $500,000.

Sexy Dutch supermodel, Doutzen Kroes, was fifth with US$6 million, but Brazilian beauty Alessandra Ambrosio suffered a net capital loss of $500,000 and tied with Natalia Vodianova, who remained with the same amount last year.

Daria Werbowy remained in eighth at US$4.5 million, again with no change on her 2009 position. Australian cutie Miranda Kerr increased her capital net worth by a million dollars to US$4 million, but could not improve her ninth position from last year.

36-year old Carolyn Murphy was the only American on the Forbes list of top-earning supermodels, in the same spot as last year, but increased her capital net worth by $500,000 to $3.5 million. Carolyn Murphy's main earnings came from being the face of Estée Lauder, Roberto Cavalli, and Anne Klein.

Technology brings families together

In the old days, non-interactive mediums like the television put a barrier between family members, each member wanting to watch their own separate shows. But modern technology, like cell phones, computers, and the Internet have created new mediums for increasing social interaction and bringing families together. Parents who have connected with their kids via the various new mediums said they've resigned themselves to doing it the new way. Modesto resident Trinity Balmonte said she always texts her 16-year old daughter, Cassy, because she knows it's faster than calling. "I definitely think that Facebook is a positive thing," said Balmonte. "But we need as parents to be more proactive. We can't just trust that our good kids will stay good kids. We can never just let them go. They are always still learning from their parents."

While the frequent complaint about the Internet is that it makes us more isolated, some families have instead harnessed the power of social media and emerging technologies to become even closer. "It's so easy to send a picture or a video," said Edward, a Modesto Junior College student and hairstylist at Plush Hair Studio, about keeping in touch with his parents. "I feel I'm more open to them now because it's so easy to update them. And it feels good to share." In fact, Edward said his parents being tech savvy has helped bridge the generation gap between them. "If you see an older person than you who is up-to-date with technology, you'll feel more connected," he said. "I feel like if my parents had the cheapest cell phone that didn't have online access or text, we'd have nothing in common."
