Microsoft's new anti-virus and anti-spyware software pack, titled Microsoft Security Essentials, will be released soon. Microsoft has touted the software as a basic anti-virus, anti-spyware product that consumes less memory and disk space than commercial security suites like those from vendors such as Symantec and McAfee. Microsoft Security Essentials will run on Windows XP SP2 or later, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
But be warned: If you're running a pirated copy of these operating systems on your computer then there's no free anti-virus software for you!
